Hundreds of employees from the Mesaieed community along with their families participated in the fun-filled day that included an array of sport activities such as football, handball and volleyball matches, bowling tournaments, basketball games, spinning and cross-fit workouts. On the occasion, Dr. Mohammed Yousef Al-Mulla, Managing Director and CEO of QAPCO and Qatofin said: “The National Sports Day is an excellent opportunity to promote the regular practice of sports amongst our employees and to encourage them to do the same with their children. It is our responsibility, as parents, to transfer the values associated with sport to the future generations. Every one of us can contribute to build a healthier and fitter nation.” Dr. Al Mulla also highlighted that through the year, sport competitions have been instrumental at QAPCO, strengthening teamwork and corporate culture, fostering social integration and reinforcing cohesion. Besides, Sports Day marked the culmination of “Lose to Win”, a flagship corporate weight-loss program, which is part of QAPCO’s annual “Be Fit, Be Healthy, Be Happy” campaign. During 12 months, employees were offered the support of health and nutrition professionals, together with the co-operation of Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC), to encourage them to adopt healthier diets and to embrace more active lifestyles. Thanks to original activities and monthly monitoring, the program has been extremely successful and almost 500 employees enrolled. The 3 employees who progressed the most on their weight-loss and active lifestyle journey were recognized during the day and became an inspiration for many.

Since its inception in 1974, QAPCO’s corporate culture has been profoundly marked by sporting events and athletic competitions. Sport is an integral part of the company’s corporate culture. The establishment of the QAPCO Sports Committee back in 1988 is a remarkable illustration of QAPCO’s dedication to promoting sports within the corporation and within the community. Every year QAPCO organizes no less than 10 major sports championships and the teams also do participate in local tournaments. As both the QAPCO Club Team and QAPCO Sports Committee are very active all year long, some of QAPCO’s flagship contests include the Winter Football Tournament, the famous Ramadan Football tournament, the Badminton, Cricket or Volleyball tournaments just to mention a few.
