The forum is held under the patronage of H.E. Sheikh Ahmed bin Jassim Al-Thani, Minister of Economy and Commerce, organized by Qatar University College of Business and Economics (QU-CBE), in collaboration with the Qatar Ministry of Economy and Commerce and the Interactive Business Network (IBN). The forum is taking place on 2-3 March 2015 at the Sheraton Doha Resort and Convention Hotel.

Commenting on the sponsorship of the Forum, Dr. Mohammed Youssef Al Mulla, Vice Chairman and CEO of QAPCO stated, “At QAPCO, in alignment with our commitment the Qatar National Vision 2030, we believe that contributing to Qatari society and serving our beloved country is part of our license to operate. The 2nd Entrepreneurship in Economic Development Forum serves as a valuable platform to stimulate the entrepreneurial spirit in Qatar and the region by bringing together the academia, the private sector and the next generation of entrepreneurs. Through our participation, we look forward to advancing the development of entrepreneurship by fostering dialogue, encouraging innovation and discussing some of the challenges that the young entrepreneurs may face”.

In alignment with the Qatar National Vision 2030’s objectives, QAPCO continuously reaches out to the Qatari youth through an array of initiatives aimed at supporting their educational and professional journey. In particular, QAPCO plays an active role in strengthening industry-academia collaboration.

Dr. Al Mulla continued, “Our aim is to ensure the next generation of leaders is equipped with the relevant skills and capabilities to pursue their aspirations and to drive the ambitions of our industry and of our country. We are proud to participate in empowering the Qatari youth and to shape the leaders of tomorrow”.

Dr. Al Mulla concluded by saying, “I believe encouraging young entrepreneurs translates into tangible benefits for our economy and for our industry. For instance it stimulates the SME sector, which supports the growth and diversification of the Qatari economy. At QAPCO, we know that doing business with local suppliers and local SMEs makes our company stronger. Currently at 81%, our local procurement ratio has steadily increased as the local market has developed to meet our needs and specifications. Where feasible, we preference Qatar-based suppliers because we see the value it creates for us, them, and the State of Qatar”.
