QAPCO holds Mini Olympics in support of National Sports Day

Doha, Qatar – 15 February 2012: Qatar Petrochemical Company (QAPCO) a leading Middle East petrochemical held a ‘Mini Olympics’ for all its employees in support of Qatar National Sports Day on February 14.

As part of their wider corporate social responsibility policies QAPCO organized an exciting day called the ‘Mini Olympics and use of full recreational facilities for their employees to engage in a wide range of sporting activities at the Grand Hyaat Hotel.

Dr. Mohammed Yousef Al Mulla said: “QAPCO’s Mini Olympics National and Qatar’s Sports Day was an excellent initiative to encourage everyone in Qatar to embrace sport and a healthier lifestyle which is so important. The idea of the Olympics came from the companies integral objective to support the State’s vision of reinforcing the importance of regular exercise and physical activity to promote a healthy lifestyle for Qatar’s overall society and ensuring that this becomes a family institution as well as a cultural trend in Qatar.”

I believe everybody left the day feeling happy that they attended and has a fresh outlook on the idea of obtaining a healthy life style.” added Yousef Al Hamadi Head of Sports Committee

Team and individual sport events were organized on the beach area of the hotel and was free-of-charge for entry. Sports organized included the traditional ones – such as football, volley ball, relay races and rope games and more contemporary activities, such as Yoga and Pilates. There were also activities for children such as a bouncy castle and face painting.

QAPCO Managers also took part in the activities encourage team spirit within their departments. Employees and their families took part in all sports, and enjoyed the healthy, outdoor atmosphere of the Grand Hyaat Hotel.
