QAPCO Student Engineering Club Organizes Lecture on Engineering

Doha, Qatar – As part of QAPCO’s strategy to collaborate with and support the education sector in Qatar, in 2018 QAPCO Student Engineering Club was launched in order to provide a specialized forum for engineering students that will enable the promotion of all matters relating to Engineering.

In collaboration with the College of Engineering at Qatar University, Texas A&M University at Qatar, Community College Qatar and the College of the North Atlantic – Qatar, this new initiative will, through a series of special events, build a community within the education sector in Qatar, that will bridge science and technology issues, further engaging Qatari and expatriate engineering students. Membership of the club is comprised of academic staff and students from our partner universities and colleges: as well as QAPCO employees and developees and will enable networking with engineering students from other universities and colleges, professors and professionals from QAPCO as well as facilitating research projects and conducting valuable experiments.

The new QAPCO Student Engineering Club is a great example of industry and education working together to maximize the learning opportunities available to the students and will create a new and unique way for students to learn more about the industry as it will enable them to experience at first-hand what the industry can offer to them and also what they can offer to the industry.

The theme of the event was “Engineering in the 21st Century – Why It Is Still So Important”, with the invited audience of 60 engineering students from our partner universities and colleges being able to listen to lectures from the keynote speakers Dr. Ibrahim Al Naimi – President of Community College Qatar, Dr. Cesar Malave – Dean of Texas A&M University at Qatar, Dr. Ken MacLeod – President of College of North Atlantic Qatar and Dr. AbdulMagid Hammuda –Associate Dean for Academic Affairs of Qatar University.

Apart from this lecture, plans are in place to implement a series of technical workshops delivered by QAPCO training specialists and also to launch a new Industrial Mentoring Program for students.
