QAPCO wins fifth Annual Qatarization Award

Doha, Qatar – 5 June 2016: Qatar’s leading Petrochemical Company, QAPCO, has received its fifth Annual Qatarization Crystal Award for its efforts in ‘Supporting and Liaising with the Education Sector’ during 2015. The award was presented by His Excellency Dr. Mohammed Bin Saleh Al Sada, Minister of Energy and Industry, and Chairman of Qatar Petroleum (QP), together with Saad Sherida Al Kaabi, Managing Director and CEO of QP, during the Qatar Energy and Industry Sector’s Annual Qatarization Review meeting.

On receiving the award, Dr. Mohammed Yousef Al Mulla, QAPCO’s Managing Director and CEO said, “Receiving this Qatarization award for our support to Qatar’s Education Sector is an honour, and a clear demonstration of how we are successfully integrating Qatarization into our business strategy, operations and results”.

“At QAPCO we are fully committed to engaging with local universities, colleges and schools, especially through our investment in research and development and through the promotion of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) education. We believe this will play a vital role in the future of Qatar’s Energy Industry,” he concluded.

QAPCO has collected seven Qatarization accolades overall since 2009, spanning four categories. These include five Crystal awards, as well as recognition for supporting student scholarships, supporting training and development and for supporting the country’s and industry’s overall Qatarization goals.

QAPCO’s Chief Human Capital Officer, Abdulla Ahmad Naji, described winning this award as, “A landmark achievement for QAPCO”. He said, “We are incredibly appreciative of receiving yet another Qatarization award. It recognises the great strides we are making, through our educational programmes and interactions with students and the academic community, to inspire, encourage and support a new generation of petrochemical experts and leaders”.

QAPCO’s contribution to Qatar’s Education Sector can be also seen from the four professional Academic Chairs that they currently sponsor at Qatar University, College of the North Atlantic – Qatar and Texas A&M Qatar.
